Complemented by a genuine sense of community, Powhatan is one of the fastest-growing areas in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We are proud of the rich history our county offers. Formed in 1777 and named after Chief Powhatan, father of Pocahontas, Powhatan County has diverse heritage, including five Civil War Trails sites and 19 buildings and 2 districts on the National Register of Historic Places.
